The Ezra Klein podcast has an intriguing conversation about how we read, shallow reading and deep reading. I recognize both types. Deep reading is when we become engrossed in a book while reading slowly and carefully. I am deep reading the new book, THE MARRIAGE PORTRAIT by Maggie O’Farrell. Her previous book is HAMMET, which I also loved.
Every year I am surprised with the early darkness and short days. And the cold nights. After 82 years of living, I am shocked at being surprised.
The former teenager and I watch two episodes of THE ENGLISH, the new Prime series. I still don’t know if I like it.
I have named my new quilt, the one I am slowly sewing, CHAOS. I am not being careful to have the pieces match either in color or pattern or size. It may not be very attractive when done but then neither is my life at this point.
