I have two new books for middle of the nights reading. Last night after one and a half hours lying in the dark, I get up, wrap myself in a blanket and start reading THE BEST AMERICAN ESSAYS 2022, edited by Alexander Chee. Short interesting essays. Three essays read and some time doing computer solitaire, I am ready to go back to bed. My mind has finally given up on figuring out the meaning of my life.
My writing friends arrive for our weekly writing time. We alternate talking and writing and reading. Such a treat for me. I give them some of the uneaten meals that have collected in the refrigerator.
Garbage day on Monday. Each week as I take out garbage and trash to the bins, I evaluate my fitness and health. I am doing well, stronger each week. Amazing what a difference it makes to not have cancer treatment for two months. Treatment starts again in December.
I love all my family, kids, grandkids, siblings and their children. I worry about their safety as the gun violence continues.
