My friend and I eat and talk during lunch at the Lighthouse Café in Moss Landing.  And we keep talking.  The waitress puts the bill down on the table and removes all the dirty dishes and we keep talking. We are the last customers. Finally, I realize she is waiting for us to leave to close up the place.  We split the bill and walk out. Beautiful sunny day, not too much traffic for a Saturday on the Central Coast.

I wake up several times during the night listening to the rain.  Listening to the various sounds of rain drops.  My cracked ceiling window was repaired recently but I keep checking.  Is that sound a leak or is it from outside?

I am now reading THE GREAT BELIEVERS, a novel by Rebecca Makkai.  Another compelling book to read during these winter wet days.
