There were a few stars in the cloud gaps before the sun came up.  Now the sky is covered in clouds and rain is coming soon.

I used the valet service at Highlands Inn.  It is free but you need to give a tip.  How much tip?  My friend says $5.  I am so grateful that I don’t have to park on that steep hillside.  When I eat out I tip 20% of the bill.  So what is 20% of free.

The valet, a young man likes my car, a 2008 Honda Element.  He has a 2005 Honda Element.  We are a secret tribe, owners of Honda elements.  On the road, we wave and smile at each other.

I didn’t see the dying flowers in the vase on the table.  They have been there for 3 weeks.  This morning I saw them, clusters of dead flowers and leaves, drooping and sad.  But one branch from a scented geranium plant is thriving with new flowers coming out. This triage table holds library books, amazon books, old mail, keys, bags of stuff, unopened boxes and the rat torn package.  I leave things on the table until I can figure out what to do with them.

I am in the middle of THE BEST OF HER KIND by Sigrid Nunez and realize I have read it before.  I vaguely remember parts.  It was published ten years ago.  I like the book and now am not sure if I will continue.  I hesitate to read the same book twice.  But it is a good read.
