I meet my friend Mary
Eileen at Sweet Elena’s bakery in Sand City to write. We meet monthly and always have a lot to talk
about. Talking gets in the way of
writing and if we are not careful the writing energy disperses and we leave
with nothing done. I am early and have a
coffee and a chocolate croissant and review my December calendar to see what I
can cancel or just not attend.
We talk and finally remember we are supposed to write and
read. I set the timer for twenty minutes
and write “What’s Up,” our usual topic.
And then we read our work to each other.
Now we are free to talk and conspire.
We believe we can make the world a better place. Sometimes we just laugh.
