I took another walk at the cemetery today. Fog was just breaking up. song birds around, one woodpecker, no Canadian geese. Quiet lovely place to walk.
Afterwords I called my sister on my cell phone to say hello. While talking to her I saw my old doctors grave, Dr. Waligora. What a surprise. He danced at my wedding 50 years ago.

Drove to Carmel Valley this morning for a board meeting. Wached squirrels race across the street. they would start across and then stop to look. If they were lucky they wouldn't be hit by a car. Saw a bunch that were smashed by cars. I wonder why they want to get to the other side of the road. I saw them going in both directions. What a hard life.

One of the benefits of walking at the cemetery is that it is quiet and has very few people hanging out. this time there were crowds of Canadian geese eating something from the grassy areas and leaving big wet poop where ever they went. I stayed on the road as I took my slow walk. I heard lots of song birds but didn't actually see them.

Robert Caro's book on LBJ is looong. I wonder if I will ever finish it. What I like about it is that he describes the 50's and 60's so I can now see a bit clearer what was happening when I was a youth. Life was much more complicated then I ever imagined. I will keep plugging away at it. I did finish his first three long books.

I have resisted being sucked into the today's shooting tragedy. Turned off the news. It is such a trap for me to get caught by the never ending news cycle. so tonight I sat by the open door while I ate dinner and now I am going to continue reading Robert Caro's book on Lyndon Johnson, THE PASSAGE OF POWER.

Driving home last night at dusk I saw a family of deer crossing the road on Pacific Street in Monterey. there is something wonderful see how animals are coming back into our towns. That we actually sharing this land, this town with live animals that are not pets on leashes or not hidden in the ground or in the sewer pipes. yea for deer.
