I have too many books from the library. I will never be able to read them all in two weeks plus I have a stack of books on the floor that I want to read.

Too many, too many and yet I still fear that I will run out of books.

Spent te day creating, printing and stuffing the
April calendar for MBZC. Step by step. When I would get bored I would step out for a while knowing I had to return to finish the job. I do this monthly and most of the time it goes smoothly but today I was restless.

A small storm blew through town. Now the full moon is up flooding the neighborhood with moon light.

Sunday, March 28, 2010

Went to a zen center board meeting this morning. What a treat, interesting people, kind speech and a good agenda.
Doesn't always work this way but today it was perfect. I have nothing to complain about.

A warm balmy night. with a full moon. Took a walk downtown to the wharf with a friend. Many people also walking about.

The local teenagers were goofing off near the wharf, skateboards, teasing, talking. This is a good place for them.

Last night as I was unable to sleep, I turned on my light to read. I heard a commotion by my front door. and then a big fat raccoon sauntered across my glass ceiling, not once stopping to look at me or anything else.

The wild rough night world is so close.

I filled out my half of the census form and gave the rest to Scott to complete. But I am not sure I will send it in.

If I don't send it in the government will have to hire someone to come knock on my door and in this time of unemployment I don't want to prevent someone from working. What a dilemma.

Wednesday, March 24, 2010

Ate left over chicken for lunch today and now am craving real food. I'm not sure what real food is but I want some.

some comfort food, some food made by someone else.

But I will settle for frozen lasagna form the freezer.

Driving to the Cherry Center this morning at 6:30am in the dark I noticed a rushing stream of water running down the curb. As I drove up the hill the water kept coming. Had it rained? Is this a water shed?

Finally I found the source, a broken pipe outside one of the hotels. They fixed it by the time I drove back at 8am.

Sunday, March 21, 2010

All afternoon I have played with the TV to check on the progress of passing the health care bill. Not yet. It seems to take forever. Talk, talk, talk. Where is the action.

Saturday, March 20, 2010

I took a quick doze at noon today in my new car. The day long workshop was on break and I was sleepy

Rolled down the window, let the seat go back and dozed with a pillow Not perfect but it worked

I was ready for the afternoon session and the long drive home

The two apricot trees have finished their blooming and now are filled with leaves.

It is just the apple tree that is hanging back with bare limbs.

Each day I go out to check, any movement yet, not yet. One of these days.

While I was sitting outside in the warm shade two well cared for cats with jinglie collars glided in, checking me out as if I had taken over their space. they walked around, lay down and scratched their back on the rough cement. About ten minutes later they left. I returned to reading my book.

The great blue herons are back nesting in the tall pine trees down the street. They have moved further up the gully away from the High School kids.

I want to go down and look closer to see how many nests there actually are. They have been coming for several years and are hard to see unless you look up to the top of the trees.

Yea!!!!

The third plein air writing class went well this morning at Whaler's Cove at Point Lobos state park. Everyone worked hard and wrote.

I was very impressed by their dedication.

One more class next Tuesday. I was up early making coffee and tea to bring to the group.

Went to the zendo this morning in the dark, with the new time change. Sat for the forty minutes slowly watching the light flow in through the sky lights.

then went to Pacific Grove for a bear claw and a cup of coffee with a friend.

Sunday, March 14, 2010

Unexpected sun and warmth. Took an afternoon walk by the waterfront, slow observing walk. Lots of families, strollers, old people, kids on scooters. The tide was way out with reflective sand stretched wide.

Stopped for an praline and creme ice cream on a sugar cone. I thought there would be a long line for cones but no, I was the only one.

Sat on a bench licking the cone, catching drips with a napkin, making a mess. It's not even summer.

Saturday, March 13, 2010

I am pretending to have a dog named Spot. I take this dog out for a walk everyday. Another attempt to move around more now that the days are getting longer.

I don't have to feed Spot, I just have to pat him on the head once in awhile.

Spring is coming. We had a sunny day yesterday and today it is raining again.

I don't want to cook dinner. Want it to magically appear and if that doesn't happen then I will have some cereal for dinner, cereal with a banana and a glass of milk.

I wonder when I will want to cook again.

Thursday, March 11, 2010

Went t Jiffy Lub to have my car services. They asked me what kind of oil I wanted and listed three kinds each $10 more then the previous. How do I decide.

The organic was the cheapest but the clerk said it would soon turn to dust.

the other two were synthetic, more expensive and much better.

I don't know, was I being sold something. I chose the middle one since I just didn't know.

Wednesday, March 10, 2010

Watched the documentary on Michael Jackson tonight, This Is It.

I was so surprised at how talented he is on stage and how gentle. I had so many ugly stories in my mind about MJ. I wonder where they all came from and why I believed them.

I am so glad to have seen the movie.

Why didn't it get an Oscar?

Tuesday, March 9, 2010

I've started reading a collection of novels by James Cain at my daughter suggestion. Really grim slice of reality. I read, then blow my nose and then read some more. Such a sad life.

Monday, March 8, 2010

I just lay around most of the day getting ready for tomorrow's plein air writing class.

It takes a while to get well from a cold.
I tried to give the cold back to the ten year old boy who gave it to me.

He said I couldn't give it back because he already had it.

I said that I could but I am not sure what I mean by that.

Sunday, March 7, 2010

Cough, sneeze, blow my nose. The cold continues as I struggle through the day to what, keep busy, entertain myself. Tonight I am going to watch the Oscar show. Tomorrow I hope to wake up in the morning magically cured.

Saturday, March 6, 2010

On Wednesday I hugged my grandson who told me he was not contagious even though he had a deep cough. Today I have a cold.

The question is should I pass it on to my friends, after all it might not be contagious.

Thursday, March 4, 2010

Went to see The Last Station about Tolstoy's last times A beautifully done movie.

We went in the afternoon not knowing that this would be the first sunny afternoon in weeks.

We missed the sun but we saw a good movie.

Wednesday, March 3, 2010

the eight year old girl in my life now has glasses and she looks adorable.

She says she can see the freckles on her brother's face.

The glasses are going to serve her well.

I wear reading glasses and sun glasses to drive, when it is not raining.

Tuesday, March 2, 2010

Intense rain today. No leaks. No high school boys tagging my yard.

Spent the morning teaching a plein air writing class. Went well

Monday, March 1, 2010

More teen age boys hanging out by my house. I went out and warned them that the police were watching this street for illegal activities.

They ran off. Who needs the police when just the threat of the police scares them.

I wonder where this is leading to.
